I would like to extend a very warm welcome from the Community of JOY!
My name is Yani Yoo. I am the pastor of the Community of Joy (COJ), an English speaking ministry to the foreign and Korean community of Daejeon. We are a congregation of approximately 60-80 members and a ministry of the Chun Sung Methodist Church, which under the leadership of Pastor Sung-Kun Cho, is one of the largest churches in Daejeon with over 12,000 members.
To best describe what our church has meant to the foreign or expatriate community of Daejeon, I would relate a recent story of one of our foreign members who teaches English in Daejeon. He and his family are regular attendees of COJ, but they were called to return to their home country for an extended period of time. Upon their return to Korea, they related how they missed the worship and fellowship of COJ. They shared how they told their friends and relatives that the best thing about being in Daejeon was being part of and getting to know the COJ congregation.
Although there are several English congregations in Daejeon, I would recommend COJ because it is a wonderful mix of foreign and local families and young adults. They are a loving group of people that will offer you a wonderful and caring church family.
While I lived in the United States as a visitor, I was richly nurtured by the local churches. I will never forget those experiences. I hope that COJ might bring you and your family similar experiences.
